The UGLEE Ergonomic Pen Review and Giveaway

Disclosure: I got this product as part of an advertorial.
Remember the days when you could go online and buy a pen that wrote well, looked nice, was super comfortable and never resulted in hand cramps? No? Me neither. Well, that is until now; a couple of days ago I received a package from UGLeePen with 3 pens for me to test. They call it the World's Most Comfortable Ergonomic Pen.

Before I opened up the packaging, I made sure to read some of the statements on the front and back of the pack:

One of the most prominent claims was that you could write all day without cramping or strain. That's a pretty strong statement to make and I intended to see if that would hold up. One thing you should know is that my daughter is pursuing her Masters degree, which means lots of writing; who better to try the pen than her? So I gave the pen to her and asked her to let me know how she liked it. I, of course, kept another pen for myself and wrote with it throughout the day.

Today, the results are in. My daughter told me this was one of THE best pens she has ever used. She loves the texture and feel of the finger grip and said that she didn't feel any strain or cramping in her hands. The one thing she wishes she could change though was the size of the pen tip-she would prefer it to be smaller. However, besides this minor point, she loved it.

My own review is very similar. My first thoughts at seeing the pen was that contrary to the name, I actually thought it was pretty unique. I love the design and think it's rather charming.

Initial tests proved that it's very easy to write with-the ink flows smoothly and like my daughter said I didn't feel any strain or cramping as I wrote throughout the day. Also, like my daughter said, I LOVED the finger grip. Have you ever walked into the stationary aisle and seen those pen packages that say "feel me" and the grip looks extra squishy, but you touch it and it's actually just firm rubber? Well, this is nothing like that-the grip is very squishy and for a big kid like me this was a huge positive. The grip makes it easy to write with and very versatile. Now, these claims aren't just pure conjecture-there is a science behind the design of this pen, which you can read about here

The ink comes in 3 different colors: blue, black and red while the pen comes in a variety of colors: red, blue, green, pink etc. According to their website, the pen is great for those with arthritis or carpal tunnel syndrome as well as children who are just learning to write. It's also perfect for those who need to write for long periods of time like students or note-takers.

All in all, I loved this pen and would recommend it to everyone (even those of you who might not use pens that often-this might just change your mind).

UGLeePen is also sponsoring a giveaway so one of my readers can have their own UGLee Pen. Just follow the directions of the Rafflecopter and good luck! Keep in mind that the first 3 options are mandatory.

Olay Micro-sculpting Eye Cream & Lash Serum Duo

Very recently, Vocalpoint, a try and review site sent me a full-size sample of Olay Micro-sculpting Eye Cream & Lash Serum Duo (try typing that 20 times fast). I had heard about it before receiving it, but never actually bought it. I've used many Olay products and have loved them all, so when given a chance to try out the Lash Serum Duo, I jumped at the opportunity. The claim was that the eye cream would remove fine lines near the eye area (duh), while the lash serum would make my lashes look longer and thicker. Well, sounds reasonable and something I would definitely want to try so I started my regimen as soon as it arrived.

After about a month, what I've noticed is that the eye cream is exactly what I expected from Olay: not a miracle worker, but definitely something to use for minor wrinkles. It's no fountain of youth, but it is a good product. I found that I did notice some improvement in fine lines around the corners of my eyes and the cream is worth it if you just want to improve the appearance of a few minor wrinkles. Fortunately, I don't have more defined wrinkles to test it on, so if you're looking for a product to remove those heavier wrinkles, unfortunately I can't help you there.

Next up, the lash serum. Now this is a product that I don't think is worth the hype at all. First of all, I found the bristles of the applicator brush to be too small. Every time I applied the serum, I felt as though I was poking my eyes and getting the serum into my eyes. One thing you have to know about me is that I hate getting anything into my eyes. I shiver when I see people putting their contacts in and I cringe when I hear about how someone poked their eye with a mascara wand, so even the feeling of getting this in my eye is enough to put me off. My next issue with the lash serum was the fact that even after a month of use, I didn't notice any difference in my lashes. The product said it would instantly thicken lashes and nourish them. However, I noticed neither of these changes. When I put the serum on, my lashes sort of clumped together and I guess that was supposed to make them seem thicker. Anyway, the serum wasn't really my thing. Another thing I heard from friends was that they used the serum and mascara (not part of the product) together, which caused the mascara to clump together and gave them a sort of porcupine lash appearance. I had no experience with this because, well, I don't wear mascara-refer to my getting things in my eye phobia.

So the final verdict: the lash serum, I found to be useless, but the eye cream was definitely something I want to use again. In fact, I would suggest buying just the eye cream-Olay, I believe, sells a variety of eye creams so I'm sure there will be one there that will work. Forgo the lash serum - I found it to give more problems than it was worth.

South Hill Designs: Locket Madness

For the past year, I've been hearing about lockets. Silver lockets, gold lockets, round lockets, heart-shaped lockets, you name it, I've heard about it. Well, all the locket madness got to me and I thought, "I have to find out what this is all about". So, I ventured into the locket arena and ended up entering a share to win contest on Megan Street's South Hill Design's page. Little did I know, I ended up winning a mini locket from her. Beyond excited, I sent her my info and lo and behold, about a week later came this in the mail:

When I won the locket, I thought all I would be getting was the cute mini locket and silver chain, but Megan surprised me and sent a cute Plumeria flower charm as well!

The charm is white with a tiny, sparkling, crystal gem in the middle. The locket itself is silver and has a fairly substantial weight and is about the size of a dime. It's absolutely adorable and I love it.

The locket costs $22.00 and comes with the silver chain. The charm is $5.00 as are all the charms in the South Hill Designs collection.

This would make a great gift for a young girl to start off her jewelry collection or even for an older woman as a beloved keepsake. I know I'm going to be keeping this for myself; it's too cute to part with!

*Disclosure: I was not provided with product for review purposes, however I did win and receive it for free
